Ritroviamo assai antica, e nobile la famiglia Carocari in Italia, e principalmente in Roma, da un ramo detto Carocari derivò quel chiarissimo Poeta Annibale, e parimente nei Regni di Napoli, perciò nei Baroni del Monte Cavioso, che andarono, e contribuirono nel servigio militare, che si fece nel tempo del Re Buon Guglielmo, va notato Guglielmo Carocari, che portò con esso 18 soldati, e 20 servienti. Visse anche nel tempo di Enrico VI un cavaliere chiamato Giovanni, che ebbe da quell'imperatore il governo della città dell'Aquila, mentre sotto il Re Manfredo fiorirono Luigi e Guglielmo cavalieri in Barletta.
