Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Asti. Nei ricordi dei tempi andati si leggono alcune varianti di questo cognome dovute alle solite cause della pronunzia dialettale e dal modo di interpretare la scrittura dei cognomi, i Carrocci, Caroccii, Carroccio etc. sono tutti rami di un unico ceppo. Raimondo Caroccia fu console di giustizia nel 1290, nel 1302 venne deputato a giurare in Brescia una lega coi pavesi, e Ruggero fu nello stesso anno testimone in una transazione che fecero i suoi concittadini con quelli di Alessandria. Guglielmo consigliere della patria nel 1221, e Giacomo fondò in Asti il monastero di Santo Spirito che fu anche detto di S. Trinità. Altro ramo.
