Alghero family whose news dates back to the 17th century. They were fairly wealthy merchants, some practicing the liberal professions. With the brothers Dr. Diego who obtained knighthood and nobility in 1647 and Giovanna Battista who obtained the same privileges in 1648, the family was divided into two branches. Giovanni Battista settled in Cagliari where his descendants died out during the 17th century. Doctor Diego lived in Alghero where the Carolas continued to maintain a discreet position and to cover public offices of a certain importance. No news of the Algherese branch of the family since the XVIII century. The coat of arms of the Carola family is: D'azzurro, with a burning red golden brazier, with a natural lamb in the middle of the flames.
