He was lady of his homeland for about a century. In 1314 Giacomo I, who became head of a popular faction, banished the magistrates, and in 1318 he made himself head of the republic. He had to fight against Cane della Scala, Signor di Verona. Marsilio, nephew of the previous one, transferred the dominion of the city to Cane della Scala, but recovered it with the help of the Florentines and Venetians in 1337. Ubertino III prince of Padua, died in 1345; Marsilietto reigned only two months; James II died assassinated in 1350; Giacomino was acclaimed lord of the homeland, but by his nephew Francesco ceased to live in a fortezaza in 1372. Francesco, valiant in war, added Treviso, Feltre and Belluno to his state; but won by Galeazzo Visconti, he had to surrender him in 1388 Padua and Treviso. He died in the castle of Como in the year
