Genuesische Patrizierfamilie, abstammend von einem Notar aus Pietro, der um 1222 starb, aus dem Ort Carrega in der Diözese Tortona; die durch Genua gegangen waren und dort sofort ehrenhafte Geschäfte und Berufe ausübten. Bartolomeo, der Notar Giovanni, Nicolò, Geronimo, Pietro, Paolo (XIV-XV Jahrhundert) wurden aus Samuele di Michele von besagtem Pietro geboren, unter denen sich die gleichen Linien befanden, von denen einige ausgestorben waren, andere noch blühten. In der genuesischen Verfassungsreform von 1528 wurden die Carrega dem Patrizier zugeschrieben, einige im Hotel Sàuli, andere im Hotel De Marini. Eine andere Familie dieses Familiennamens wurde später auf Ersuchen eines Alexander (geb. um 1578) von Stefano, der zu diesem Zweck die Opfergabe von zweihundertvierzigtausend Königen vorlegte, dem Adel von Genua (29. November 1646) angeschlossen. Aus der Bartolomeo-Linie, die für die nachfolgenden Generationen von Barnabas, Giovanni Agostino, Gaspare, Giovanni, Giacomo Filippo, Giov. Battista (geb. 1686), Giacomo Filippo (geb. 1714), kam nach Giov. Battista
