Family originally from the kingdom of Valenza, transplanted to Sardinia since the time of the conquest of this island made in 1323 by the infant D. Alfonso son of James II of Aragon. Francesco Ammiraglio of the Aragonese fleet, and governor general of the island in 1325 had, in remuneration for his services, many concessions of fiefdoms in Sardinia. Berengario count of Quirra was twice viceroy of the island in 1410 and 1415. Starting from 1363 he had widened its boundaries, in fact he had purchased the fiefdom of Baratuli from the tax authorities, from the Quiteranos, that of Castiadas, from the Alomar to those of Mara and Galbisa, from the Martinez de Corasta the fief of Solanas, from the Cabrera those of Serrenti and Pauli, from the Ladrera those of Flumini and Corongiu. He had no sons, his daughter Violante in 1380 married Pontius Senesterra and secretly Berengario Bertran
