Anticamente detti Carrozza, Carrozzi quindi Carrozzini, sono indicati dagli storici quali provenienti dalla Spagna e successivamente affermatisi nelle città Nocerine. Risultano in alto stato sin dal 1033 nella città di Lettere. Giovanni e Berlinghiero combatterono valorosamente al seguito del Re Martino d'Aragona nel 1392. Troviamo i componenti della famiglia valorosi ed accorti ai Normanni ed agli Svevi, agli Angioini ed agli Argonesi e ne ottennero in premio grossi feudi, privilegi e dignità. Le varie diramazioni, così come risulta dall' "Albo D'oro delle Famiglie Nobili e Notabili Italiane", furono aggregate alla nobiltà di Lettere, Nocera dei Pagani, Taranto, Messina, Soleto e furono decorati dei Titoli di Barone e Marchese recentemente riconfermato al M.se Tommaso di Giorgio da S. A. il Principe Cesare d'Altavilla Sicilia e Napoli. In Soleto dettero il nome ad una piazza, vi possedettero un palazzo con stemma e corona marchionale.
