Famiglia napoletana oriunda dalla Spagna, di antica e nobile tradizione, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La cognominizzazione originaria, Cascón o Cascònes, anteriore al XIV secolo, divenne, tramite modificazioni di fonetica storica, Cascone nel XVIII secolo in Italia ed anche in Spagna. L'arma di questa famiglia fu presente nelle campagne contro i Turchi nel 1302, tanto che i Cascone sembrano essere citati nelle vittorie del Artaki (ottobre 1302) e Monte Tauro (15 Agosto 1304). Un Giovanni fu maestro di campo con le truppe di Luis de Requesens y Zúñiga nel 1548. In Italia i Cascone sono prevalentemente ricordati in contratti di vendita di terre e case, dai quale appare che erano di condizione agiata e nobile. Nel 1723 il nobile toscano Marco Gregorio Moretti passò in Napoli per sposare l'erede della famiglia Cascone acquisendone il nome ed il patrimonio, da questi coniugi nacquero il Conte
