Antica ed illustre famiglia, oriunda di Arezzo. Carlo, di Attilio Casieri, fu tra i Priori di Arezzo nel 1672. La sua famiglia, già ammessa al quarto grado della cittadinanza, era stata poi promossa al terzo e quindi, con deliberazione consigliare del 5 settembre 1701, al secondo, finché il fratello di detto Carlo, fra Francesco dell'Ordine dei Cappuccini, famoso predicatore (1648-1719) fu il 27 maggio 1712 ammesso coi nipoti Attilio e Paolo al supremo onore del Gonfalonierato e, per decreto della civica rappresentanza, fu contemporaneamente posto il suo ritratto nella sala del Consiglio. Il 30 gennaio del seguente anno fu nominato Cardinale di Santa Chiesa. I Casieri furono ascritti al Libro d'Oro dei Nobili Aretini con decreto 8 maggio 1756, e l'ultimo rappresentante di questa stirpe vi figura Luigi Aurelio, nato da Carlo Luigi, di Ferdinando, e dalla nobile aretina Chiara del cavalier Aurelio Degli Azzi.
