Questa famiglia provenne da Brescia, e qui esercitava la mercatura della seta, con la quale accumulò molte ricchezze. Un Gaspare, col fratello Girolamo, il nipote Giuseppe e i discendenti, venne ammesso al patriziato veneto, il 6 agosto 1662, mediante l'elargizione di 100 mille ducati nella votazione tenuta in Senato il 30 luglio 1662, nella quale riportarono voti favorevoli 180, contrari 40, non sinceri 18, e in quella del Maggior Consiglio tenuta il 6 agosto ove ebbero voti favoreveoli 297, contrari 191, non sinceri 195. Coprirono con onore diverse cariche, e contrassero parentela con parecchie famiglie di nobile lignaggio. La casa dei Cassetto prospetta la Fondamenta dei Frari, e il Ponte di S. Stin. Che i membri della famiglia Cassetto siano noncuranti delle cose volgari, ripromettendosi dalle sole loro energie la dovuta ricompensa, lo provano i documenti fino ad oggi conosciuti come il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico del commendatore G.B. di Crollalanza che
