Antiga família originária de Damasco, mudou-se para Alexandria do Egito, de lá para a Áustria. Dividido em dois ramos de Giuseppe e Antonio, o descrito abaixo pertence ao de Giuseppe que teve o título de conde palatino pontífice pelo Papa Pio VI (13 de abril de 1796) e cavaleiro do SRI mf. pelo imperador Francisco II com diploma de 10 de novembro de 1798. O Papa Pio VII então a Michele di Giuseppe com Breves de 4 de maio e 13 de agosto de 1802, concedeu o título de marquês, transmissível a ambos os sexos. Esses títulos foram reconhecidos aos seguintes descritos com o Decreto Ministerial de 22 de fevereiro de 1893 aos filhos de Eugenio, Michele, Giuseppe: 1. Giulia Michelina Beatrice Maria, n. Pádua, 1º de setembro de 1849, em dez. gen. Leone Re (Pádua); 2. Giovanni Nepomuceno, senador do Reino, gr. cr. Mauriziano e da Coroa da Itália,
