Ritroviamo la famiglia Castellet una delle più antiche, e nobili del Regno d'Aragona, e Principato di Catalogna, e fra i suoi huomini chiari è celebrato Beltran di Castellet, il quale nel 717 viveva nobilmente, e pugnò molt'anni contra i Barbari per cacciarli dall'occupata Spagna possedendo in quei tempi un Castello chiamato Castellet, essendo stato possesso da' suoi progenitori sotto il Rè Goto Atagulfo, ma egli, vedendosi la provintia tutta oppressa da Mori, si ritirò con molti cavalieri ne' monti Perinei, e nelle parte di Cerdagna, ove si fecero forti (come afferma Pietro Tomich) e dopò molte battaglie, e segnalate prodezze, vecchio col Principe Matatia nel 751 si morì, lasciando quattro figliuoli, che non poco illustrarono la sua famiglia.
