Questa famiglia di origine Normanna, venne in Regno seguendo Roberto Guiscardo. Fu detta prima de Letto o Leto dal feudo di Castel Letto, e poi Castelluccia o Castellucci e Pappasiderio per la possessione dei feudi di tal nome. Si disse in ultimo d'Alitto nome conservato dai discendenti, e si vuole che venissero così chiamati per usare le Ali nello stemma.Questa famiglia ha goduto nobiltà in Sicilia e nelle città di Bitonto, Chieti, Sulmona, Bisignano, Tropea Castelluccia e Diano, dove un ramo si stabilì nel 1600 circa. Il ramo di Bitonto si estinse in due maschi ed una femmina maritata nella famiglia Giannone, col patto che lo sposo e si suoi discendenti dovessero aggiungere al proprio cognome quello di d'Alitto. La famiglia del Sole nobile feudataria della Provincia di Salerno si estinse in Francesco al quale successe la sorella, Persia, maritata a Giovan Andrea di Alitto. Tra i membri più illustri
