Originari di Cigliano, poi in Vercelli e Torino, hanno memorie sicure dalla fine del secolo XVI. La genealogia nota si inizia con Giuseppe, che fu padre di Giampietro, chirurgo a Vercelli nel 1626. Era suo nipote ex-filio quel Giuseppe che tesoriere della provincia (10 marzo 1660) e decurione di Vercelli (1662), diede luogo con Carlo Felice e Giampietro, suoi figli, a due linee. La prima, infeudata di Montonaro nel 1697, poi ridotto a mano regia per sentenza camerale del 7 novembre 1720, ebbe nel 1724 e 1732 il feudo di Torrazzo (Biella) con titolo comitale. La seconda, distinta col cognome di C. delle Lanze, per il matrimonio di Giulio Cesare con una discendente da Violante delle Lanze, da Santhià, ebbe in dono (testamento 20 febbraio 1760) dal barone Giambattista Pettiva, previo R. Assenso, il feudo di Torrazza in Lomellina. Appartenne a questo ramo il conte Carlo, morto ventiduenne per ferite
