Apellido castellano. De las montañas de Burgos, desde donde se extendió por toda la Península con la Reconquista. Se estableció en Canarias en el siglo XVI. Don Francisco de C., esposo de Doña Juana de Morales, vecinos de Gáldar, fueron padres de Doña Catalina de Morales que casó con Don Pedro de Vega y Quintana. Varios caballeros de este apellido probaron su nobleza en las Ordenes Militares de Santiago, Calatrava y en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid.
