Detta anticamente Cauca, poi Cocho e quindi Cocco, è originaria di Costantinopoli; e da Durazzo di Albania si portà a Mantova e quindi a Venezia nel secolo decimo. Avendo condotta in questa città in tempo di carestia gran copia di grano, si rese benemerita della Repubblica, e fu annoverata fra le patrizie nella serrata del Maggior Consiglio l'anno 1297. Molti uomini illustri emersero da questa famiglia. Marco C. accompagnò nel 1177 in Puglia Ottone figlio dell'Imperator Federico. Giovanni uno dei 41 elettori del Doge Giovanni Soranzo nel 1312, e nel 1340 Procuratore di S. Marco. Iacopo, Canonico di Padova, Protonotario Apostolico e Arciv. di Corfù nel 1531 creato dal Papa Clemente VII. Antonio Arciv. di Patrasso e coadiutore del precedente nel vescovato di Corfù.
