Originaria di Cotignola (RA) passata in Ferrara si è propagata, nel corso dei secoli, nelle regioni limitrofe ove si leggono alcune varianti cognominali quali Raveglia in Lombardia e Ticino. Berardo potestà della sua patria; Borso, consigliere di Stato di Ercole I e podestà di Modena, di Reggio e di Rovigo; Marco-Antonio capitano di Ariano, scacciò i Veneziani nel 1510. Di questa famiglia non si hanno più notizie. Famiglia illustre e storica allo stesso tempo, però come dice il Dolfi nella sua "Cronologia delle famiglie nobili di Bologna, con le loro insegne, e nel fine i cimieri", stampato in Bologna presso Giovan Battista Ferroni nel 1670, proveniente da Bologna. Qual fosse ne' passati secoli nelle Città dell'Emilia, la Famiglia è molto noto a ciascuno, ch'abbia de' fatti di quella nobil Città veruna contezza.
