Ancient and very noble Neapolitan family, of remote French origins, called Ciccarelli or Ceccarelli and, in ancient times, Chicarel, which spread over the centuries in different regions of Italy. Known since the 16th century, the family obtained the title of baron, on April 10, 1815, for the services rendered to Gioacchino Murat. Francesco, with Royal Decree of 5 July 1857, was awarded the title of Marquis of Cesavolpe, by King Ferdinand II of Bourbon.
