Anticamente erano detti Zecchetelli, e furono assai potenti in patria durante le civiche discordie. Muzio e Andreuccio di Zecchetello si trovarono fra i fuorusciti eugubini di parte guelfa che maggiormente osteggiarono il tiranno Giovanni Gabrielli. Matteo Zecchetelli fu podestà nel 1357, e Giovanni, figlio del summenzionato Andreuccio, fu ambasciatore nel 1382. Fra i più cospicui di quelli che portarono il cognome di Zeccadoro, son da notare Alessandro e Francesco egregi giureconsulti: Carlo capitano nel 1602, e Giambattista Vesovo di Fossombrone. Ultimo di questa famiglia fu Francesco distinto letterato, il quale mancò verso la fine del secolo XVII, e ne fu erede il marchese Scipione Biscaccianti che aveva tolto in moglie la di lui sorella Lucrezia.
