Famiglia antichissima e nobile, detta anche Cecilio o Cecili, fu posta con l'altre avventizie Romane fra le plebeie dal Panuino, chiamandola però Consolare, e fu tra le plebeie, come dependenti, e della fazione del popolo, o della plebe, e conseguì il consolato avanti Cesare Augusto, come ce lo dimostra il suddetto Autore, e che venne in Roma dalla Toscana. E nel territorio d'Arezzo possedeva il Castello di Ceciliano distante due miglia in circa da detta Città, ed oggi ridotto in Villaggio, ritiene pure il suo pristino nome di Cecilia; del cui delizioso luogo tanto nobilmente cantò fra le lodi di Pomponio C. Attico, Cornelio nipote, Oratore disertatissimo. Di questa famiglia fu quel Tullio C., che fu creato tribuno militare di Roma nel 310 aC e del del Mondo nel 352 aC dal Senato Romano in vece de' due consoli con la potestà però Consolare; nel 251 aC
