Appellata anticamente Prencipi, di cui Guinicello dott. in filosofia e medicina ed Alberto giurarono per la loro patria la pace coi Modenesi nel 1260 e 1285; Ruffino, della fazione lambertazza, nel 1275 sostenne il vessillo imperiale; Giacomo, esule per la detta fazione, tagliò a pezzi i Bolognesi della parte geremea che nel 1277 erano andati in ajuto de' Ravennati. Furono degli anziani Michele nel 1270, Galassino nel 1353, Principino nel 1354, Taddeo nel 1390 ed altri più moderni. Uguccione di Bartolomeo sindaco e procuratore della fazione lambertazza, intervenne nel 1298 ad un Consiglio generale in Imola, e nell'anno seguente fu eletto de' Savi di detta fazione a far compromesso coi Visconti e con Matteo ed Alberto della Scala. Guizzardino di Missino fu dottore così insigne di medicina, che la sua famiglia, oltre il cognome primitivo fu detta Dal Medico che restò poi ai successori.
