Alte und sehr edle römische Familie von klarer und überlieferter Tugend, früher bekannt als Cithera, die sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens ausbreitete. Die ersten Informationen über die Familie sind bereits im 13. Jahrhundert zu finden. Einige Dokumente sind im Stadtarchiv aufbewahrt. Die Familie wurde mit anderen Adelsfamilien verwandt, wie den Albertini ab 1507, den Capocci ab 1520, den Frangipani im selben Jahr, mit den Galliani ab 1562, mit Amerika, den Muti und den Palatini ab 1563 und mit den Valle, 1570. In der Kirche San Gregorio befinden sich zwei Grabsteine; die erste lautete: "Camilli de Cithera Nobilis Romani Hic Ossa Requiescunt Vixit Annos XXXX. Herren VI, Dies XXX, Jahr D.ni MDLXX"; der andere sagt: "Dilectissimae Conjugi Hyeronimae de Valle Nob. Rom. Quae Vixit Annos LIII. Männer IV, Dies IV. Camillus de Cithera Nob. Rom. Multis Sperma Lacrimis Monumentum Hoc Fieri Curavit MDLXX, Die XIX, Männer. Septem". Anderer
