Ancient and noble family originally from Chiavari, who passed, in 1688, with a Hannibal, in Piacenza. It descends directly from the magnificent Giovanni, quondam Angelino, mentioned in the chronicle of Chiavari in book VI in which we read that in 1383 Giovanni, armed with a galley, was part of the Genoese fleet commanded by Nicolò Maruffo, which brought the Lusignan king in Cyprus. For several times, since this family was very rich, owning a house in Genoa, a palace in Chiavari and many lands and reasons in the Val Daveto, Taro and Trebbia, it lent and secured for the Genoese republic (Atto Giovanni Barchi 13 October 1382) . The members of the family owned the castle of Mileto, so from ancient deeds they were distinguished and called the lords of Mileto.
