Fino dall'anno 1387 la famiglia godette del Priorato della città di Arezzo nella persona di Piero di Nicola, e anche suo figlio Cristoforo rivestì simile carica nel 1403. Dopo due secoli di partecipazione al Priorato, nel 1587 il magistrato dei Nove, con sentenza solenne dichiarava che la famiglia apparteneva a quelle che potevano ottenere il Gonfalonierato di giustizia, carica riservata solo alle più eminenti della città. E tale carica fu effettivamente ottenuta per la prima volta nel 1606, da Guasparri di Donato, e nel 1616 da Alessandro di Matteo e successivamente da vari loro discendenti, che conservarono un cospicuo patrimonio e lo splendore della famiglia. Con decreto 10 maggio 1756 la famiglia, divisa allora in due rami, fu ascritta al Patriziato aretino. a) Disc. di Giovan Battista e Niccola, di Tommaso, di Nicolò. b) Emrico di Francesco. Figli: Alfredo, Amelia, Eugenia, Carolina, Arturo.
