Antigua y notable familia toscana, con residencia en Lucca, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se ha extendido a lo largo de los siglos en diferentes regiones de Italia, con asentamientos más conspicuos en el Tirol. Los hogares también se encuentran en territorio austriaco, pero todavía se cree que son originarios de la Toscana. Según lo que se nos transmite, la familia tomó su nombre del lugar homónimo en el Valle de Serchio, en el que tuvo que reclamar algunos derechos feudales, y de hecho también se la conocía como De Cerasomma.
