Originari di Barcellonetta, poi insediatisi in Torino, risalgono, con le prime memorie note, a Giovanni, morto verso il 1630. Suo figlio Giacomo, nato il 22 luglio 1609 e morto il 23 aprile 1693, fu senatore di Piemonte e poi primo presidente del Senato (1680), acquistò dai Mocchia, punti di giurisdizione di Pralormo e ne fu investito con titolo comitale il 9 aprile 1690. Fu il primo di una lunga serie di uomini illustri. Degni di particolare menzione: il conte Filippo Domenico (n.
