Antica ed assai nobile casata spagnola, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa e del Nuovo Mondo. Originariamente questa famiglia era conosciuta come Seron ma, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, finì per imporsi la forma cognominale Ceron. La tradizione vuole che la famiglia si sia originata in tempi antichissima e, più precisamente, al tempo del re di Roma Tarquinio il Superbo. Un Seron, infatti, dalla Siria passò in Roma ed ivi divenne capo della milizia romana. Lo stesso prese poi in moglie Aurelia, matrona romana, da cui ebbe un figlio, Marco. Quest'ultimo passò in Spagna, con la carica di pretore romano. Facendo un salto temporale sino all'anno 1044, quando regnava Don Ferdinando I, troviamo un Paolo Ceron, milite al servizio del detto Re. Anche successivamente, la famiglia si distinse sempre per la fedeltà ai re spagnoli, da cui sempre ebbe importanti cariche e feudi
