Apellido de origen castellano. Procede de las montañas de León. Una de sus ramas pasó a Andalucía. El Capitán Don Alonso C. Osorio, natural de Morón de la Frontera (Cádiz) y su esposa Doña María Ana de Figueroa, natural de Cáceres, fueron padres de Doña Ambrosia C. de Figueroa, que casó en Panamá el 13 de julio de 1636, con Don Bartolomé de Muxica-Lazcano y San Juan, nacido en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria el 1 de diciembre de 1602, Capitán de Infanteria española, que pasó a Indias. A su regrego a Las Palmas, Don Bartolomé construyó su casa en la Plaza de San Bernardo de la capital canaria, en cuya fachada mandó poner el escudo de armas de su familia.
