L'origine commune du Lomello et du Cerreto est, comme mentionné manfredinga : l'empereur Otton III du début du XIe siècle. il ajouta les deux comtés territoriaux de Pavie et de Lomello à l'office des comtes palatins d'Italie, les investissant de la riche et puissante lignée des seigneurs de Lomello qui conservèrent longtemps cette dignité ; une position et un titre purement personnels que l'évolution des temps et des circonstances favorables rendaient alors héréditaires de fait.
