The Cerretti family, born in Reggio E., has been registered in the matriculation of Reggio families since the mid-seventeenth century and was granted the noble citizenship of Reggio and patrician of said city, given to the Pellegrino and Cristoforo di Paolo brothers. The first of them (n. 8 April 1764, dec. 8 March 1820) was Canon and Archpriest of the Cathedral of Reggio. Vicar General of the Diocese, and highly reputed sacred orator. Graduated in law he taught Roman law in the Law course in Reggio; then Sacred Scripture in the Seminary. Appointed to Bishop of Carpi, he refused to accept for domestic duties. He left many printed and unpublished works of Theology and Sacred Sciences. It is remembered by a beautiful Latin epigraph in the Cathedral of Reggio. Cristoforo, noble guard of honor of HRH the Duke of Modena, married the ND Ippolita Fogliani Della Torricella Denaglia, the last of this ancient and illustrious family. She died on March 19, 1849. Her son Paolo, Noble Guard of Honor of HRH the Duke of Modena and Ten. Colonel of the Soldiers, by succession to his cousin his cav. Don Febo-Ercole Fogliani Della Torricella Denaglia, was appointed commander of the SM Gerosolimitano Order under the title of SS. Trinity with diploma April 22, 1844 from Rome of Balì F.llo Carlo Candida, and he was authorized to add to his surname the maternal surname of Fogliani Della Torricella Denaglia, and to also join his own, the related coats of arms, having extinguished this family with the death of the cousin Don Febo Ercole and his mother ND Ippolita married Cerretti, his mother. Interzato in palo: nel primo d'argento al tralcio di vite al naturale, posto in palo e terminato in punta da un rastrello a cinque denti: su tutto sette rombi di nero, accostati in banda.; nel secondo: d'azzurro al castello torricellato, aperto del campo, posto sopra un monte d'argento e cimato da una banderuola dello stesso, accompagnato in capo da tre stelle male ordinate d'argento; nel terzo troncato; a) D'argento allo scaglione di verde caricato di cinque bisanti d'oro e accompagnato da altri tre bisanti cuciti dello stesso; b) D'azzurro alla fascia di rosso cucita, accompagnata in punta da tre monti di verde, cuciti, con un cerro radicato su quello di mezzo e in capo da tre gigli d'argento posti in fascia.
