La familia Cerretti, nacida en Reggio E., ha sido registrada en la matriculación de familias Reggio desde mediados del siglo XVII y se le otorgó la noble ciudadanía de Reggio y patricio de dicha ciudad, otorgada a los hermanos Pellegrino y Cristoforo di Paolo. El primero de ellos (n. 8 de abril de 1764, 8 de diciembre de 1820) fue Canon y Arcipreste de la Catedral de Reggio. Vicario general de la diócesis, y orador sagrado de gran reputación. Graduado en derecho, enseñó derecho romano en el curso de Derecho en Reggio; luego la Sagrada Escritura en el Seminario. Nombrado obispo de Carpi, se negó a aceptar los deberes domésticos. Dejó muchas obras impresas e inéditas de Teología y Ciencias Sagradas. Es recordado por un bello epígrafe latino en la Catedral de Reggio. Cristoforo, noble guardia de honor de Su Alteza Real el duque de Módena, se casó con la ND Ippolita Fogliani Della Torricella Denaglia, la última de esta antigua e ilustre familia. Ella murió el 19 de marzo de 1849. Su hijo Paolo, noble guardia de honor de SAR el duque de Módena y Ten. Coronel de los soldados, por sucesión a su primo su cav. Don Febo-Ercole Fogliani Della Torricella Denaglia, fue nombrado comandante de la Orden SM Gerosolimitano bajo el título de SS. Trinity con diploma el 22 de abril de 1844 de Roma de Balì F.llo Carlo Candida, y se le autorizó a agregar a su apellido el apellido materno de Fogliani Della Torricella Denaglia, y también a unirse a los suyos, los escudos de armas relacionados, extinguiendo a esta familia con la muerte del primo Don Febo Ercole y su madre ND Ippolita se casaron con Cerretti, su madre. Esto con decreto del 25 de febrero de 1858 del duque de Módena y despacho

Interzato in palo: nel primo d'argento al tralcio di vite al naturale, posto in palo e terminato in punta da un rastrello a cinque denti: su tutto sette rombi di nero, accostati in banda.; nel secondo: d'azzurro al castello torricellato, aperto del campo, posto sopra un monte d'argento e cimato da una banderuola dello stesso, accompagnato in capo da tre stelle male ordinate d'argento; nel terzo troncato; a) D'argento allo scaglione di verde caricato di cinque bisanti d'oro e accompagnato da altri tre bisanti cuciti dello stesso; b) D'azzurro alla fascia di rosso cucita, accompagnata in punta da tre monti di verde, cuciti, con un cerro radicato su quello di mezzo e in capo da tre gigli d'argento posti in fascia.
