Ancient and noble Italian family, originally from Tuscany, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The clear nobility of this House is also confirmed by its presence in some of the most valuable heraldic books, such as "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" by the Italian writer and heraldist Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (May 19, 1819 – March 8, 1892) and "Raccolta Ceramelli-Papiani" by Count Enrico Ceramelli-Papiani (1896-1976), who dedicated himself for many years to the study of the coats of arms of Tuscan families. This noble House had its first residence in the city of Pisa where it was also know as del Mastio. In Pisa, the members of this family held the main magistrates of the Republic for a very long time. We believe that the blazon is incorrect, in all ancient drawings the eagles are arranged 1,2 and in the drawing kept by the Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek those below are facing.
