Famiglia originaria di Squillace (Calabria), passata in Napoli nel secolo XVI. Nobile per Sovrani Privilegi dell'11 marzo 1536 e del 10 marzo 1545, concessi ad Ottaviano, Regio consigliere, per sé e suoi Discendenti, e per essere stata decorata di altri importanti uffici. Venne riconosciuta di nobiltà generosa nel 1857, nella prova dell'aspirante signor Federico Pizzuti a R. Guardia del Corpo. La famiglia è iscritta genericamente nell'Elenco Uff. Nob. Ital. del 1922 col titolo di Nobile (mf.) in persona dei Discendenti da Giuseppe, avo materno di Federico Pizzuti, aspirante a R. Guardia del Corpo nel 1857. E'stata rappresentata da: Caterina, di Adolfo (n. 26 agosto 1828) e della Nobile Claudia Castriota Scanderbech, n. a Napoli 11 ottobre 1858, spos. ivi 11 giugno 1884 col Nobile Giuseppe de Roggiero dei Duchi di Albano.
