Famiglia originaria di Acquasparta nell'Umbria. La sua derivazione dalla famosa famiglia Romana omonima e degli Sforza di S. Fiora non è chiaramente definita. Simon Pietro, fu creato cavaliere dal duca di Parma nel 1680. Suo fratello mons. Carlo, fu segretario del duca Ranuccio II, poi suo ministro a Roma. Il principe per le benemerenze dei due fratelli C. verso la sua casa concesse loro il titolo comitale estensibile ai discendenti maschi con pat. del 16 giugno 1693. I discendenti di Simon Pietro vissero lungamente a Parma coprendo cariche civili e di corte. Nella prima metà dell'ottocento uno dei membri della famiglia passò a trento come podestà. Ivi si sviluppò un ramo della famiglia, ora rappresentata dal dott. Lamberto, direttore di quella biblioteca comunale e della sorella Giuliana, vedova del patriotta trentino conte Martini morto in prigionia austriaca durante la grande guerra.
