Desde Umbría se mudó a Roma a mediados del siglo XV con Pietro degli Equitani o Chitani, quien, abandonando su apellido, asumió el de Cesi y fue senador en Campidoglio. Ella era dama de S. Angelo con el título de príncipe; Acquasparta, Selce, Ceri, Rignano con el título de duque; de Riano y Monticelli y de Oliveto con título de marquesado, y con el de conde de Reschio y Cantalupo. Francesco Cesi invirtió en el castillo de Poggio da Leone X.
