Família originária da Navarra, de cujo Reino passou ao de Castela. Gonçalo Iñigues Chacon, senhor da casa e comendador da ordem de Sant'Iago, vivia em 1331. Casou com D. Teresa Garcia, de quem teve, entre outros, D. Rui Gonçalves Chacon, comendador de Calatrava na Ordem de Santiago, em 1348, comendador-mor de Castela, em 1350, havendo em 1353 perdido a comenda-mor porque o Rei D. Pedro, o Cruel, quis que ela passasse a D. João Garcia de Vilaguera, irmão de D. Maria de Padilla, sua mulher, e o matou em Sevilha em 1358. Deste foram filhos D. Sancho Fernandes Chacon e Teresa Fernandes Chacon, que se recebeu com João Afonso de Arnalte, que teve vários filhos, um dos quais, Arnalte ou Hernalte Chacon, foi fidalgo por mercê dos Reis Católicos, D.
