Cette famille noble, dit Saint-Allais, originaire du Périgord, est actuellement établie dans les provinces de Bourgogne et de la Franche-Comté. Jean, écuyer, sieur de la Chabroulhie, habitant du bourg de Corgnac, sénéchaussée de Périgueux, capitaine d'une compagnie de gens à pied, fut chargé, en 1589, par M. de Monpezat, gouverneur du roi en Périgord, d'assiéger le château du haut et bas Bruzac. Jacques et Gaston, écuyers, seigneurs de Champaigne et du Peychier, petit-fils du dit Jean, ayant produit les titres nécessaires pou prouver leur noblesse, et l'ayant établie, par filiation, depui Albert, qualifié écuyer dans son contrat de mariage du 14 mars 1522, furent maintenus par M. Hélie de Montozon, commissaire subdélégué de l'intendant Pellot, et, par jugement de ce dernier, inscrits dans le catalogue des nobles de la sénéchaussée de Périgueux.
