Dans l'acte de mariage du seigneur de Soubeyrat, en date du 17 décembre 1776, son père est qualifiè de Messire de Chaumel, seigneur du Planchet, conseiller au sénéchal et présidial de Périgueux. Dans un testament , du 30 mars 1782, de Pierre Chaumel, seigneur du Planchat et de Fareyrie, il est dit conseiller du Roi, en la sénéchaussée et siège présidial de Périgueux; un curé de Pressac d'Agonac, du nom de Chaumel du Planchat, se voit parmi les votants, en 1789, dans l'Ordre du Clergé. Un Louis Chaumel, sieur du Planchat, fait donation à Pierre Chaumel, sieur de la Faurie, son frère, de tous ses biens et droits paternels et maternels, le 9 décembre 1746, date de l'acte passé à Saint-Front d'Alemps. Armes de la famille: D'argent à un chameau au naturel passan, au chef d'azur chargé de trois étoiles d'or.
