Encontramos este nombre también escrito Chavas. Familia del pueblo de Montfaucon-en-Velay. Filiación desde Jean de Chave porvu en 1498, de la Judicatura de St-Ferréol-en-Forez. Establecido en el siglo XVI en Haut-Vivarais, con Sébastien de Chave aliado en 1549 con Jeanne Fouilhac, dama del Coronel. Esta nobleza había partido y fue rehabilitada el 17 de junio de 1686. Alexandre Chave sgr. de la Chavas, se convirtió en barón de Ay en Vivarais, al adquirir esta tierra en 1753, del marqués de Satillieu. Otra rama: nobleza de Velay, propietario en Vivarais. Simon Chave está calificado en 1550, señor de Puy, sgr. de Chave en Dombes. Gaspard tenía sus gabinetes registrados en Hozier en 1696. En 1698, tomó el nombre de sgr. del mas. Pierre-Balthazar y Louis-Raphaël de Chave fundaron en 1737 una capilla en Mas près Tence. Convocado el 31 de marzo de 1789 a la asamblea del Sénechaussee de Le Puy.
