Desde 1400 esta familia se estableció en el área de Piacenza. En 1475 los Chiappini aparecieron en las facciones de Costerbosa y Platoni en Borgotarese. En el siglo siguiente aparecen ampliamente encuestados en los territorios de Caorso y Cortemaggiore. Las ramas de esta familia existieron en Roma y Florencia, donde tuvieron entierros nobles respectivamente en las iglesias de los Santos Apóstoles y la Madonna del Carmine. El fundador de la sucursal de Piacenza fue Pietro Andrea, padre de Marco Antonio. Fueron estos notarios de los duques Farnesi Edoardo y Ranunzio II, procurador de bienes y canciller de la cámara dual.
