La famiglia Nasalli, che nei più antichi documenti si trova ricordata anche coi nomi Chiappuzzi Nasalli, è di antica origine ligure e trovasi nel secolo XV stabilita in Varese Ligure, dove godette di molta autorità e considerazione. Seguendo una tradizione locale già avviata, Don Girolamo Nasalli, sul principio del sec. XVIII, si trasferì nei Ducati di Parma e di Piacenza, dove occupò onorevoli cariche pubbliche, fra l'altro presidente del Supremo Consiglio di Giustizia, del Supremo Magistrato delle Finanze, membro del Consiglio privato del duca Ferdinando di Borbone, il quale in premio delle sue benemerenze conferì a lui e ai suoi discendenti maschi il titolo di conte, con decreto 6 agosto 1769. L'anno successivo poi il Nasalli fu ammesso con la sua fam. ai "magnifici" della classe Scotti della Comunità di Piacenza.
