El nucelo siciliano del Chiarella aparece en la historia durante el siglo XVII cuando fue agregado al Patriziato Messinese y fue el único grupo con el Chiarelli di Cento Conti Palatini. Esta rama se mudó a Messina, luego de luchas partidarias (investigación histórica "De Nobili di Magliacane"). En 1716, como lo muestra el Archivo Estatal Provincial de Catanzaro, la Carte de Nobili de Magliacane, Don Rocco y Don Ignazio de Sicilia pasaron a Catanzaro. El más conocido de la familia Catanzarese fue el magnífico Sr. Don Giuseppe, quien, al morir el 30 de octubre de 1759, dejó siete mil ducados para las Misas a la "Venerable Congregación de la Inmaculada Concepción". El Magnífico Domenico en 1767 se estableció en Marcellinara, comprando vastas tierras allí. Dr Don Giuseppe, tío abuelo del actual representante, ardiente liberal, en 1860, abandonando el techo paterno, se alistó con Garibaldi. Luchador por la liberación de Nápoles
