Es ist Tradition, dass die Adelsfamilie Fossombrone aus Palermo stammt. Tatsächlich wird hier ein Niccolò Chiavarello (1662-1747) unter den Schriftstellern der Gesellschaft Jesu erwähnt. Tatsächlich veröffentlichte er das "Panormitan Pantheon" für die Feste von St. Rosalia, dem Schutzpatron von Palermo. Seit dem 18. Jahrhundert wurde die Familie zum Adel der Fossombronate aufgestiegen. Der Vater Sante von der Gesellschaft Jesu und Rektor der Kirche S. Ignazio in Rom sollte in Erinnerung bleiben. Der Heraldische Rat erklärte, dass der Titel eines Adligen von Fossombrone (mf.) Dieser Familie gehörte. Es war Brauch der ältesten Familien, die nach dem Untergang des Römischen Reiches in dieser Flut der Barbaren, deren Nachnamen sowie ihre Studien und andere schöne Dinge verloren gingen und nur mit einfachen Namen zurückblieben, ihre Nachnamen wieder zeichneten und ihre Familie mit väterlichen Eigennamen und von den wichtigsten.
