Francesco fu fatto governatore di Firenze da Papa Leone X nel 1515. Ha dato alla Chiesa quattro Vescovi di Fano; Francesco, Gregorio e Cosimo Vescovi di Fano. Quest'ultimo creato Vescovo da Clemente VII all'età di anni diciotto, morì nel 1537, a venticinque anni, vuolsi di crepacuore per essere stato turpemente oltraggiato da Pier Luigi Farnese. Filippo, Vescovo di Ischia poi di Assisi, fu legato apostolico per Pio IV in Germania e al re Filippo di Spagna, e fu uno dei Vescovi che intervennero al Concilio di Trento; Tomaso di Vincenzo cavaliere di S. Stefano nel 1584. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii paterni, e de' maggiori.
