Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Gubbio. Un Balduccio d'Ugolino, detto Chioccio, vivente nel 1401, fu il fondatore di questa famiglia. Marino Chiocci, figlio di detto Balduccio, fu quarto console nel 1442 e nel 1444, e cinquant'anni dopo visse Martinozzo Chiocci cavaliere di Rodi. In seguito la famiglia si divise in due rami, uno dei quali, estinto nel secolo XVII, ebbe il titolo di conte. Il secondo, che tutt'ora fiorisce, nel 1678 fu ascritto tra le famiglile patrizie aventi diritto alla carica di gonfaloniere di giustizia. La famiglia é iscritta genericamente nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano del 1922 col titolo di Patrizio Eugubino (maschi e femmine), in persona dei Discendenti da Balduccio, di Ugolino, detto Chioccio (1401),
