Familie Oriunda aus Savona, wo im 18. Jahrhundert eine Familie mit diesem Nachnamen für die Herstellung der berühmten Savona majolica bekannt war. Im neunzehnten Jahrhundert wurden die beiden Söhne von Vincenzo (geboren 1752 in Savona, m. 1822), dem Geniekapitän der ligurischen Milizen, die Generäle Giovan Battista und Agostino, illustriert. Giovan Battista (geboren 1779 in Savona, gestorben 1855 in Genua), Zweiter Leutnant im Körper der Militäringenieure der Ligurischen Republik (1797), dann in das maritime Genie des sardischen Staates übergegangen, wurde schnell Direktor im Rang eines Generalmajors (1836). . Sein Bruder Agostino (geboren 1791 in Savona, m. Ohne Kinder in Turin 1861), ein Leutnant des französischen Militärgenies (1812) und auf Sardinien (1815), wurde sein Generalmajor (1839). Im Nationalkrieg von 1848-49 war er Oberbefehlshaber des Genies im Lager, Generalleutnant nach der Belagerung von Peschiera (4. Juni 1848), Stabschef (25. August 1848), Kriegs- und Marineminister (9. Februar-) 27. März 1849) und Präsident des Ministerrates,
