Antica ed assai nobile famiglia lombarda, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli in diverse regioni d'Europa e del mondo. Sulla sua primissima origine divergono gli araldisti. Alcuni la vogliono discesa dai Chiocci di Gubbio e dunque discendente di quel Balduccio d'Ugolino, detto Chioccio, fiorente nel 1401 ed il cui figlio fu poi quarto console di Gubbio; altri la pretendono diramazione della nobile famiglia genovese Chiozza o Chioccia, nota sin dal tardo XV secolo grazie a Luigi Chiozza, ambasciatore al duca di Milano nel 1491. In ogni modo, la famiglia Chiozzi fu di certa nobiltà nella città di Casalmaggiore (Lombardia); da lì alcuni individui si portarono in Cremona, ottenendone cittadinanza e decurionato. Tra questi: Battista de' Chiocj, del fu Cristoforo, nel 1543; Agostino Chiozzi, nel 1547; Pomponio Chiozzi, del fu Agostino, nel 1564; Cristoforo de' Chiocii, del fu Zaccaria, nel 1557; Aloisio ed Annibale Chiozzi, nel 1578;

Note: la descrizione è leggermente diversa dallo stemma, riteniamo che la giusta descrizione sia: Spaccato; nel 1° d'azzurro, ad un uccellino rivolto e due uccelli posati su una divisa di nero attraversante sulla partizione, al sole orizzontale destro d'oro; nel 2° sbarrato di quattro d'argento e di nero.
