Bourgeoisie du Puy. François Chirol vivait en 1636; Claude Chirol seigneur du Fieu, docteur et avocat en la sénéchaussée de cette ville, en 1672. On trouve aussi sous ce nom: plusiurs magistrats; des procureurs postulants de la sénéchaussée du Puy (1674-1676), dont un doyen Vidal Chirol (1678). Eteinte au XVIIIème siècle en la personne de Jeanne-Marie-Magdeleine Chirol du Fieu (fille de Henri et de Marie-Anne Roubin Astier qui devint ainsi seigneur du Fieu. Nous regrettons que l'absence de plus amples renseignements ne nous conduise pas plus avant dans le passé, car tout indique que nous y trouverions les témoignages d'une origine plus reculée qui pourrait bien aller se souder à l'une des races puissantes qui firent la gloire et la force du moyen-âge.
