Family of Greek origin, settled in Bari in 1085. A branch transplanted to Giovinazzo in 1540. She was the lady of 23 baronies, of the counties of Lizzanello and Roccaforzata and of the marquisate of Lizzano. Roberto, great protonotary of the kingdom in 1273 was among the judges who signed the condemnation of Corradino, son of King Corrado, and against the archduke of Austria, and was also a great contestant of Sicily.
