Antica e nobile famiglia francese, detta Ciancia o Ciancio, passata in Sicilia, ove pose la propria residenza nella terra baronale di Adernò e possedette le baronie di Martina e Poira. Tra i membri che, maggiormente, illustrarono il casato, ricordiamo: Martino, giudice pretoriano di Palermo, nel 1771-72, del tribunale del Concistoro, nel 1783-4-5, della Gran Corte Civile, nel 1790; Emanuele, il quale sposò Caterina Galluppi ed, in occasione di tal matrimonio, ottenne dal padre donazione del feudo di Martina, del quale ottenne investitura a 30 gennaio 1778, e fu proconservatore di Adernò nel 1779, 1786, 1789, 1793-97; Giuseppe, con la stessa carica, dal 1799 al 1804. Dal matrimonio di Emanuele con Caterina Galluppi, ne vennero tra gli altri: Antonino, che, come figlio primogenito, a 7 agosto 1797 fu investito di Poira con titolo di barone; Francesco, dottore in leggi, che fu proconservatore di Adernò dal 27 gennaio 1804 a 23 settembre
